Product Information
Eleaf EC Coils
The Eleaf EC coils are available in multiple variations and are compatible with several types of tanks. These coils are designed for Direct-Lung vaping.
About the resistance
The Eleaf EC coils are available in different types. There are various mesh coils as well as "regular" Kanthal coils. The EC-N, EC-M, and EC-S coils are all mesh coils. We recommend using e-liquids with a maximum VG content of 70% in combination with these coils.
EC-M
The EC-M coils have a resistance of 0.15 ohm and are made of Kanthal mesh. According to the manufacturer, the recommended wattage range is between 30 and 75 watts, but we advise not to exceed 55 watts.
EC-N
Like the EC-M coils, the EC-N coils have a resistance of 0.15 ohm and also utilize Kanthal mesh. The mesh in the EC-N coils is slightly denser compared to the EC-M variant. The manufacturer recommends a wattage range between 30 and 70 watts. We suggest not going higher than 50 watts with this coil.
EC-S
The EC-S coils are mesh coils made of Stainless Steel (SS316L), allowing them to be used in temperature control mode. The recommended wattage range according to Eleaf is between 15 and 30 watts, but in our experience, the coil also performs well at 35 watts.
0.3 ohm
With a resistance of 0.3 ohm, this coil features two Kanthal coils running in parallel. Due to its low resistance and higher wattage usage, this coil is considered a Direct-Lung coil. Eleaf suggests a wattage range between 30 and 80 watts, but we recommend not exceeding 45 watts.
0.5 ohm
The 0.5 ohm coil is a sub-ohm coil with two parallel Kanthal coils. According to Eleaf, the coil can be vaped between 30 and 100 watts, but we advise a usage range between 30W and 50W to prevent potential dry hits. Do not use e-liquids with a VG content higher than 70% for this coil.
ECML 0.75 ohm
The ECML coils have a resistance of 0.75 ohm, making them suitable for Mouth-to-Lung vaping. Equipped with a single Kanthal coil, this coil can be used between 8W and 25W with an e-liquid containing a maximum of 60% VG.
ECL SS316L 0.3 ohm
The ECL SS316L coils have a resistance of 0.3 ohm and are the stainless steel coils from Eleaf. With two SS316L coils, they can also be used in temperature control mode. We recommend using the coils between 60W and 65W with an e-liquid containing no more than 70% VG.
About the coil
The different coils have varying effects during vaping. It's always recommended to try the coils that are included with your e-cigarette to discover your preferred vaping experience before purchasing new ones. The mesh coils (EC-M, EC-N, and EC-S) have a larger surface area in contact with the cotton, resulting in better vaporization of the e-liquid compared to traditional coils that only utilize Kanthal.
Using the Eleaf EC Coils
When using a coil for the first time, it's important to prime the coil. Apply e-liquid to all visible areas of the cotton to ensure it is fully saturated before inserting the coil. Place the coil into the bottom of your tank and do not overtighten it. After filling the tank, let it sit for a few minutes to allow the liquid to fully soak into the coil. Always start with a low wattage for the first few puffs and gradually increase to your desired wattage.
A coil should be replaced after 1 to 2 weeks. You will notice a burnt cotton taste or a decrease in the flavor of your e-liquid when it's time to replace the coil. This can occur due to age, excessive VG in your e-liquid, or using a wattage that is too high. Never vape your tank completely dry!
