Indian Spirit Kanna

Kanna is the dried plant material of the species Sceletium Tortuosum, this plant is found in South Africa. The plant was previously used by hunter-gatherers who inhabited the area now called South Africa for 1000 years. It was mainly used by warriors who returned from the battlefield to get rid of fear and depression. Kannagebruik was also linked to hunting antelopes, which were also called Kanna. These were sacred animals for the San people; they are frequently seen in rock paintings in South Africa. After the Dutch came to South Africa, the name Kanna was changed to kaugoed there. Nowadays, Kanna is often used by shepherds who have to walk long distances through dry areas because it is said to suppress appetite.

Effects of Indian Spirit Kanna

Kanna can improve mood and reduce anxiety, stress, and tension. In large amounts, it can induce euphoria, first having a stimulating and then a calming effect.

How are these herbs used?

Kanna is often mixed with tea, 200mg is sufficient. This dosage can be taken once or twice a day, for example after breakfast and/or lunch. For a more subtle effect, 50mg can be placed under the tongue.
